Coach Ray Meyer - Depaul University

As most of my visitors know, I know reside in Chicago and it is funny how the past creeps up on you in the middle of your life. This time in my sports life.
I remember on Saturdays that I used to love DePaul basketball in the days of Mark Aguire. He was a favorite of mine and I loved to watch the games as a kid in front of that 1970 RCA cabinet TV.
Depaul's has lost the only name in coaching that is associated with it's university.
We are sad to hear that Coach Ray Meyer has passed at 92. Boy, I had fun watching him coach and made me want to play the game in High School and on a recreational basis.

Coach Chaney - Temple retires.
Coach Chaney of Temple University in 1982. Chaney delivered his resignation from Temple University today, after 24 years of coaching.

Dominique Wilkins NBA
When I think about Dominique Wilkins, I think dunk and niq'.
That is what we called ourselves on the blacktop when we were pretending to be ballers'. The names would flow, Jordan, Dr. J, Magic, Bird, Parrish down low...., you name the player from the past it is the equavilant of a kind playing these days sporting a white arm sleeve and calling himself AI. (Allen Iverson)
I am surprised if he ever signed with Nike if it would've been called "Air Wilkins?"
He was nice to watch in the air with some rim in his hand.

Is he the greatest golfer of all time?
The PGA in full swing now and the first round of Doral completed with Tiger Woods in at a sizzling 64 (-8). Phil "Lefty" Mickelson tied for 2nd with 4 others. They played this first round on the Blue Monster course at Doral, which is hosting this weekend's Ford Champoinship.
Tiger Woods looks overhead as a jet flys over at Doral.

Great Goalie Pictures and a rant.....
I live in Chicago currently and have a huge issue with the fact that the Chicago Blackhawks don't allow the away games to be on TV and that they don't have a contract with ANY cable provider for home games either. Is it just here that the broadcasts are not aired for home or away? I love hockey and I am finding that looking at pictures just isn't cutting it for me...So here are some of my favorite pictures of some goalies that are great shots. Magic Johnson - 1989
As a young kid growing up in Boston, you had to appreciate the play of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. It was in the 80's when Beantown and L.A represented what we call a heated rivalry between two teams. Over time, this rivalry has diminished and that is because many great players of the past have departed. Magic being one of them.
Here is a nice picture of Magic in 1989.

Bobby Orr #4 - Boston Bruins
I had to post this picture because I was thinking about my childhood and this about sums it up for the "hockey" in me. We used to make piles of leaves and shoot a street hockey ball into the net, and then dive into the leaves as if we were Bobby Orr. I miss those days, so here is something for all of you that have the same memories of their childhood as me. Mine were filled with street hockey and baseball. This is just an awesome shot. Enjoy.
